Is my gear the best? Highly unlikely. Do I love all of my belongings regardless? But of course.
Since October, many of the national park trips I’ve taken have been with Hannah. And for our last hurrah before she went off to grad school in London, we took a quick overnight trip to the Grand Canyon, specifically the North Rim.
Great Basin National Park is apparently one of the least visited parks and that’s a damn shame. But also it’s not because I would like to keep the beauty all to myself.
My May trip to Bryce meant I had finally visited all five of Utah’s national parks. It took me about 5 years, but in those 5 years I visited Arches three times, Canyonlands twice, Zion once, Capitol Reef twice and Bryce once. (Between October and May alone I had made six trips to four parks.)
Capitol Reef trips became special because my significant other has strong ties to the place. (For example, in the summer of 2015 he was almost caught in a flash flood while canyoneering near Cassidy Arch.) He was eager to share his love of the park with me, and there are few things I love more than people being passionate about their favorite national parks.
I have a complicated relationship with Zion National Park. My one and only trip to the park came in January 2014 and I haven’t been back since, nor do I have any plans to return soon (though with some persuasion I can see myself there near the end of this summer).
